Salmon Bay Café's hip and fun staff serve traditional American breakfast and lunch (and soon dinner), great coffee, and beer, wine, or cocktails from our full bar. No small plates, no gastro-novelties-Ballard already has plenty of joints like that. Our goal is to offer something different: comfort food with home-cooked deliciousness. Great meals at great value!
C'mon down to the waterfront and check out working-man's Ballard: fisherman-sized omelets, habit-forming seafood benedicts, two-fisted sandwiches and full plates for hearty appetites. We have great veggie options, too. Not hungry for hash browns today? Substitute a small mountain of beautiful fresh fruit. We bake to-die-for muffins on the weekends and we've got plenty of free parking-how many restaurants in Ballard can say that?
The café has been serving the fishing and shipbuilding community since 1970, generating a loyal following. So when it's time for an update, we knew we had a tradition to uphold. We've renovated, but with an eye to preserving the Jersey Shore diner feel that our long-time regulars and new Ballard buddies love. We must be doing something right-just look at these recent reviews:
What Our Customers Say
"Five stars all the way! Food always fantastic. I go there a lot and have overheard people raving about the new look of booths. Friend of mine from Oregon always wants to go to Salmon Bay when in town. ALL who work there super friendly. So relaxing when I go there. Plan to eat there on my birthday it is sooooo good. You won't be disappointed for sure." 5* Ila
"Haven't been to Salmon Bay Cafe in a few months and walked in this morning to lovely, thoughtful decor changes. This is definitely still the same breakfast joint I love, but with an updated look. Not to worry, the maritime photos and nautical decorations are still here. I had the Queen Anne scramble - yum yum!" 5* Casey
"There is something kind of Zen about the plainness of Salmon Bay; even my hangover test did not shake its quiet calm. Sure enough, the morning's special happened to be homemade biscuits and sausage gravy, as if the cook had extended his hand with two pills in his palm, looked deep into my eyes, and said, "Everything's going to be all right." The B&G combined with 17 cups of coffee, home fries, poached eggs, and a giant side of bacon worked its niacin-loaded, grease-coated magic, and I was back in the saddle well before 11:00 a.m." Review in The Stranger
"The new remodel is really nice. This is one of my favorite places in Ballard for breakfast, and one of the few places that actually has parking." 5* Janice
"I love the renovations, the new owner is so nice, prices are still fair, they are kid-friendly/allergy-accommodating and the food is awesome!" 5* Mollie
"Best Breakfast in town! This is a must try in Ballard." 5* Jeff
